Coal Creek Coffee

Coal Creek Coffee

110 E. Grand Ave., Laramie, Wyoming 82070

The Shop: Feel the occasional rumble of locomotives as they blaze through the train yard just feet from this shop. Being in a Wyoming college town, this coffee shop has a youthful cool vibe. The friendly staff plays such an interesting mix of music, I've often used SoundHound to learn the name of the artist and track.

The Route: This extended route is 213 miles, or just over 4 hours. It spans both Wyoming and Colorado and navigable by motorcycle Spring through Fall. This amazing route cruises through beautiful wide open expanses, over an incredible mountain pass, then follows a wild river. A stop for a photo at Nokhu Crags is not to be missed.

Take Wyoming Highway 230 W and CO-125 southeast to Walden, Colorado. These are well maintained roads free of traffic. Speed is tempting, but be on the watch for wildlife, including moose! I highly recommend refueling in Walden since the next reliable gas station is 90 miles away. Glen Echo, over Cameron Pass, also serves wonderful food!

Along the way, check out the hippie stop of Mishawaka, also called "The Mish". The Mish serves excellent food with seating on the back desk right at the river. Turn left on Highway 287 to make your way back to Laramie, Wyoming, or turn right to reach Fort Collins.
